LIVE PAINTING FAQs

A LIVE Painting is meant to capture a scene at a celebration, and your guests get to experience the whole process because it all comes together onsite! ​

For LIVE Paintings, I use high quality water-based acrylic paint on pre-stretched canvas. The paint is non-toxic and extremely quick drying, allowing for easy cleanup and transport of the painting after an event.

All of the CA-Milleworks LIVE Painting packages include 7 hours of onsite painting. This includes two hours of setup time and first layers before guests arrive and then five hours during the ceremony and/or reception. Ideally, the painting will be completed before the end of the event, however, my overall goal is to make sure the painting is perfect when I hand it over to the client. So, there are times when I take the piece home to finalize in my studio.

Sorry I missed it! I would be happy to create a customized painting for you based on a photo. Professional photographs also provide a clearer image of the bride and groom than can be experienced at the event, which is a look some clients prefer. 

LIVE Paintings can take place at any event. Showers, birthday parties, corporate events...the possibilities are endless!

In most cases, facial details are difficult to capture during a LIVE Painting. However, I do paint the details to the extent possible: my aim is to maintain overall likeness. I take reference photos during the event to make this possible.

I use artist-quality archival materials and have minimal needs when painting on location. I just need a space to setup my easel! And, because of our record temperatures in Texas, I would also require an umbrella if an outdoor setup is necessary during the summer months. I am always seeking ways to improve and will always go the extra mile to make sure my clients have my best work. I love speaking with guests during an event to answer questions, but will never take away from the event.

Painting in its purest form is a quiet and gentle expression of grace. It creates a memorable and unique experience for the people attending the celebration. It also provides quiet and reverent entertainment for those who may not particularly enjoy the dance floor, or who want to escape the claustrophobia of the crowd.
